How to convert an audio file

Which format should you pick
MP3 is the safe choice for almost everything. It plays on every device, every app, and every platform without any fuss. If you are sending audio to someone and do not know what they use, go with MP3.
WAV is uncompressed, so file sizes are large but quality is untouched. Use it when you are editing audio in a DAW and need maximum flexibility. FLAC gives you the same lossless quality as WAV but in a smaller file, which makes it better for archiving music you care about.
AAC sounds noticeably better than MP3 at the same file size and is the standard on Apple devices and streaming platforms. OGG and OPUS are open-source formats that compress very efficiently. OPUS in particular holds up extremely well at low bitrates, making it the best option for voice recordings or anything going into a web app.
