How to convert a video file
Click the Upload Video button or drag your file onto the dashed area. Supported input formats include MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, 3GP, WMV, and more up to 1 GB. Once the file loads, pick your output format from the grid and click Convert Now.
Real-time progress appears while the conversion runs. When it finishes, a download button appears with your file. The link is valid for 10 minutes and the file is permanently deleted from the server after you download it.
Which format should you choose
MP4 is the safest choice for almost everything - it plays on every device, phone, TV, and browser without any extra software. If you are unsure, pick MP4.
MKV is excellent for archiving because it can hold almost any codec without re-encoding, which means the conversion is often near-instant and lossless. WebM is the best choice for embedding video on a website - it is small, loads fast, and plays natively in every modern browser. MOV is the right choice if you are editing the file in Final Cut Pro or iMovie on a Mac.
AVI has the broadest compatibility with older Windows software and DVD players. GIF is ideal for short loops under 5 seconds where you want the clip to play automatically without a play button - perfect for sharing reactions or demos.
Stream copy vs re-encode - why some conversions are instant
When your source video is already encoded with a codec that the target format supports, the converter uses stream copy. This means the video data is moved directly into the new container without any re-encoding, which is effectively lossless and often completes in seconds regardless of file size.
When a codec change is needed - for example converting AVI with an old DivX codec to MP4 or any file to WebM - the tool re-encodes using FFmpeg with a quality preset you choose. Best quality uses CRF 18 for near-transparent quality, Balanced uses CRF 23 which is the FFmpeg default, and Compact uses CRF 28 for smaller files.
