How to Compress Video for WhatsApp Without Destroying the Quality

WhatsApp has a file size limit of 100MB on Android and somewhere around 64MB on iOS, depending on your version. That sounds fine until you try to send a 3-minute video you recorded at decent quality and discover the file is somehow 480MB. Then begins the ritual: trim it, try a random online compressor, watch the quality drop to something resembling early 2000s internet video, and send it anyway because you don't know what else to do.
